Desilting (Dredging) Ponds, Lakes and Watercourses

Using innovative mobile de-watering equipment we clean silt and duckweed from ponds, lakes, rivers and ditches without the use of excavation machines (i.e. diggers).

What is lake, pond or river dredging and de-silting?

Lake, pond, river or ditch dredging is the removal of silt and materials that have built up over time.
Dredging, or de-silting, decreases the possibility of flooding, improves the environment for fish life and supports leisure activities such as fishing, boating or swimming.
Sweeptech takes care of the whole process in the most innovative, cost effective and sustainable way.

'No dig' technology for desilting

Our cutting-edge desilting processes are not only quicker and more environmentally efficient than older methods, but they provide considerable cost savings for water cleansing and waste disposal.

The Sweeptech method can be described as silt pumping, using suction pumps to remove the silt and filter it through our mobile de-watering equipment.

It’s a much safer solution for aquatic life compared to silt dredging a river, lake or pond using heavy machinery and digging up the silt and placing it in heavy trucks.

Lake Cleaning for wildlife park

A well-known wildlife park sadly had a pond that was dying through silt contamination. To fix this we successfully completed a lake de-silting project.

After processing 1,100,000 litres of sludge waste water without our vehicle needing to leave site, the fish and wider pond habitat were left in good health.

A competitor business that tendered against Sweeptech would have delivered a much greater carbon footprint at far higher costs. The project would have taken about 65 movements to a waste disposal facility to complete the same exercise which equates to an increase of 1,300 miles of HGV road movement.

Leeds Castle lake cleaning

Swimmers in the lake at Leeds Castle began to complain when their hands were passing through sludge.  This video is a great example of our work, and how we got the lake ready for the next triathlon.

100% landfill avoidance of sludge waste water

Our ISO 14001 Environmental Management and Sustainability policies drive our commitment to deliver 100% landfill waste disposal avoidance of all inert wet waste extracted during our cleansing and maintenance operations.

This ability is delivered when processing waste at our patented recycling facilities, operated under an Environment Agency permit, that return material fractions to either recycling or recovery application status.
