Sweeptech completes first season of glycol recovery at Manchester Airport

Sweeptechโ€™s Northwest depot has successfully completed its first full season of Glycol Recovery at Manchester Airport on behalf of MAG Airports.

Glycol Recovery is a vital part of environmental sustainability in airport operations. During the winter months, de-icing fluids are essential for safe aircraft movements, but they must also be carefully managed to prevent environmental harm. Our specialist service ensures that these fluids are safely removed, recovered and recycled – reducing pollution risks, protecting local ecosystems, and helping airports meet stringent environmental standards.

At Manchester Airport, Sweeptech deployed two of our specialist road sweepers for the season. Their performance not only supported safe day-to-day operations but also delivered measurable environmental benefits, giving the airport confidence that its de-icing programme was being managed responsibly and in compliance with regulations.

This work forms part of our wider commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable waste management. With specialist knowledge working airside at both domestic and international airports, we understand the complexities, strict safety requirements, and operational pressures that airports face. By combining specialist equipment with our knowledge of airside procedures, we help reduce risk, keep operations flowing, and support airports in delivering on their environmental responsibilities.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with MAG Airports into the 2025/26 season and building on the strong foundations laid this year.
