Sweeptech wins prestigious contractor award

Sweeptech has won a Contractor Award at the Ceramics UK Pledge Awards 2024. For more than 20 years, the ceramic sector has been coming together to recognise and celebrate health and safety leadership, continual improvement and good practice at the annual Pledge Conference and Awards.

Sweeptech was nominated for the Contractor Award by a member of the Wienerberger UK team, who highlighted some of the key reasons they chose to make the nomination, below:

“I would like to nominate Sweeptech for an award, due to their overall attitude and behaviour of safe working whilst at our factory.

“We initially made enquiries with Sweeptech to jet wash our kiln. Their Health & Safety Manager made quick contact to draft the risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), which were provided in good time. Following our own contractor management procedure, we monitored the work of Harry, Charlie and Kevin from Sweeptech against their RAMS. It was pleasing to see how they followed every control documented – to the letter.

“They were very conscientious about their work and aware of their surroundings at all times. I was extremely impressed by their attitude to the work they were undertaking for us and their attention to health & safety whilst working at Wienerberger. I would like to give a special mention to the three employees of Sweeptech in particular – namely Harry, Charlie and Kevin”.

The award was collected on behalf of the team by Sweeptech’s HSEQ Manager, Stephanie Davis, at a highly enjoyable ceremony celebrating exemplary attention to health & safety during the delivery of Sweeptech’s work with Weinberger UK.

Sweeptech CEO, Martin Smith commented:

“This award is a fantastic endorsement of the exceptional work our tanker teams undertake every day, often in highly confined spaces, bringing with it multiple potential dangers where operational compliance is absolutely imperative.

“I’m delighted the team has been recognised for their strict adherence with health & safety best practice in their work; a focus that underpins everything we do at Sweeptech – a health and safety business delivering Waste Management Services.

The news of this latest award win comes just weeks after Neil Holman, one of Sweeptech’s dedicated airside sweeper operators, was awarded the Hegarty Building Contractors Safety Recognition Award for July 2024, relating to the ongoing project at London Gatwick Airport.

Martin Smith added: “It’s fantastic to receive independent recognition – and here’s to many more awards in future – highlighting the importance of our safety-first culture and commitment to operational excellence”.
