Job description

The HGV Technician will be working with the Workshop manager as part of a small team who are responsible for the mechanical and electrical repair alongside the preventative maintenance of the Company fleet, comprising of a variety of commercial HGV vehicles at a busy workshop based in Hickstead, West Sussex

Duties & Responsibilities

Work safely, following all relevant risk assessments and method statement instructions.

  • Able to work independently on a variety of maintenance and repairs both planned and unplanned
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT
  • Diagnose and repair defective electrical hydraulic and mechanical parts and equipment on commercial vehicles
  • It would be advantageous to be familiar with commercial HGV vehicles
  • A valid HGV class 2 licence would be advantageous but is not essential

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a mechanic in a commercial vehicle environment
  • Appropriate qualifications
  • MOT preparation
  • Vehicle computer Diagnostics
  • Excellent understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements and procedures
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Job Type: Full-time Hours of work will be 50 hours, Monday to Friday, with the opportunity for overtime and weekend work paid at competitive rates.

Salary: £40,300 subject to experience plus O/T

Road Sweeper

Due to our continued growth, we are currently recruiting Class 2 drivers to join our team at our Hickstead depot. Main duties include mainly operating Mechanical Road Sweepers but also there will also be opportunities to drive other vehicles including Tankers and Hook lift vehicles working throughout the Southeast on a varied client list.

Hours of work will be 50 hours, Monday to Friday, with the opportunity for overtime and weekend work paid at competitive rates. There are also opportunities for permanent night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operating one of our many specialist vehicles at customer sites/areas collecting various waste streams from locations throughout the South East.
  • Completing daily vehicle and equipment checks
  • Ensuring all paperwork is kept up to date and submitted daily in accordance with company policy.
  • Complying with all traffic laws and legislation.
  • Exceeding our customers’ expectations.

What are we looking for?

  • Class C (Cat C). If you are newly qualified, we also want to hear from you as we can support your development.
  • Up to date DCPC – We can also support your training.
